You can really help by doing so since Bali is concerned about the perception foreigners have of Bali because it depends on tourism dollars
Bali has a long way to go toward understanding and valuing dogs. They have a tragic number of street dogs that are heart-breaking for dog lover's to see. Over time, the foreigners living here are demonstrating what wonderful relationships can be made between humans and dogs.
They are having a rabies outbreak here and the government's strategy is to poison (it's cheaper, and is a very painful death) all dogs in the area where they have found the rabies! They naively strive to go back to calling Bali "Rabies Free" this way, instead of vaccinating. Being rabies free is impossible because travel between the Indonesian islands is so easy, therefore bringing dogs in from islands where rabies exists is impossible to prevent.
In Indonesia you have to be polite or you wont be listened to, so *PLEASE*, in the space on the petition provided for your comments- just copy or add a comment like this:
Please allow dogs in Bali to be vaccinated against rabies! To make rabies vaccinations illegal as a way to control rabies is a strategy that is harmful to all animals, all pet owners and to Bali's world reputation.
