Are you involved in Animal Rescue, if so please tell us about your organization?
Yes..Independently I do placement and adoption under the name "Leader of the Pack". My network operates online and by phone, primarily in the NY /NJ area. Also, I volunteer monthly with Love Wanted adoptions..local adoption events where dogs from NSAL and the city shelters and local rescues, are brought via van, into neighborhoods so that people have the opportunity to adopt and save lives. Currently co-planning a fundraiser for BARC shelter, the only no-kill shelter in Brooklyn!
Tell us about your pup(s) and other pets?
Chico..my 7 year old Long Hair Chi, is a pet store rescue...hidden in the back of the store because he didnt meet the breed standard! He wasnt marketable...would have gone back to the mill or to a lab...I had to save him, even though I was not looking to get a dog. We have had 7 dogs in the past, never bought one before, but I couldnt leave this little dog behind. I only stopped inthe store to play with the pups...NEVER expected to come home with one. Chico's situation inspired me to do rescue/adoption work. We can not support pet stores, we must condemn puppy mills and we must make people aware that adoption is the best option...it saves lives!
To educate people about responsible pet ownership through our events and example. We work hard to raise money and awareness for animal rescue groups, promote responsible pet ownership and to advance the practice of spaying & neutering.
